“Get Our Drift” Art of the Lower Peninsula

Showing art and how to create it
Twelve local artists, members of the Art Association of Ocean Shores, will present a sampling of their work during the Sand & Sawdust Festival inside the Convention Center of Ocean Shores in a show titled “Get my Drift, art of the lower peninula“. The emphasis of the more than 40 works in the show is on beach themes.

At 7 booths inside the convention center artists will offer demonstrations throughout the three day event, June 22nd-24th. They will show how they create their art work, what they focus on, techniques and materials they use. They will answer questions about tools and sourcing of materials, what inspires them, how long it takes to create a piece and where they learned to do what they do. Included in the demonstrations are oil and watercolor painting, photography, painting on silk and drawing with color pencil.

Associated Arts of Ocean Shores (AAOS) has been advocating for and promoting artists in the community since 1974. In addition to various sponsored events making art accessible to the public, AAOS supports the art programs of local schools with yearly grants for art supplies and art scholarships for their studies.
