Associated Arts of Ocean Shores 2019 Juried Fine Art, Photography & 3-D Show
Mr. Crow, by Judy Horn
Plus demonstrating artists! Friday 11am-6pm Saturday 10am-6pm Sunday 10am-pm Artists from all parts of the United States have been invited to enter up to 5 pieces of original work and compete for cash awards totaling more than $6000 including a $750 Best of Show award. Artists can compete in any of three divisions, Fine Art which includes Oils, Acrylics, Pen, Pencil Watercolor, Pastel, and 2 Dimensional Mixed Media; Photography includes film, digital and electronic media; & 3 Dimensional which includes fiber art, wood carvings, leather work, metal, stained glass & sculptures. Marissa Laubscher from the WA State Arts Commission will be the judge. All entries will be judged from original works and will be for sale. “How did you do this and where do you get your ideas”, is one of the most common questions an artist is asked. So this year’s 45th AAOS Fine Art, Photography and 3-D Show will not only showcase over 130 pieces of finished work from places as far away as Florida, Kansas, Utah, Nevada, California, Oregon and Washington; it will also include live presentations from the following artists: Jacqueline Horton, current AAOS president and jewelry maker, AAOS vice president, Lonilou Laquill acrylic painting, and Karin Phifer, color pencil artist. The demonstrations will be ongoing throughout the three days of the festival. Festival-goers will be able to observe the progress of artwork in its creation, ask questions about the media used, techniques and choices made during the process. They will be able to learn about materials incorporated in each of the artists’ work, their preferred tools and tricks. This is a true peek behind the scenes of the creative process in three very different types of art. Associated Arts of Ocean Shores has been a strong influence in our community since 1974. Our goal has always been to promote the arts and support our artists. In addition to the various sponsored annual events, AAOS supports our local schools with yearly grants for art supplies and art scholarships for their students. Whether you are an artist, photographer, writer, musician, crafter, or an appreciator of the arts, we invite you to join AAOS. See our website for more information: www.associatedarts.org.
